The RCMP is appealing to the public for help with an ongoing investigation into a “suspicious” fire that destroyed a lobster boat on the Acadian Peninsula.

Police issued a news release Thursday saying officers responded to a report of the fire Jan. 27 at around 9 a.m. behind a home on Route 11 in Tabusintac, about 53 kilometres up the coast from Miramichi.

“Through the investigation, police have determined the fire to be suspicious in nature, and believe it was intentionally set,” police said in the release.

Anyone with information that could help the investigation is asked to contact the Neguac RCMP detachment at (506) 776-3000 or through Crime Stoppers.
