CCNB, District scolaire francophone Nord-Est and Working New Brunswick signed an agreement May 8 that will allow second-year students to work for the school district, instead of being in the classroom, one day each week, according to a press release.

The partnership will help the district to “overcome workforce challenges,” while providing students real work experience, the release states.

“This unique partnership is more than just a job opportunity for our students. It is a gateway to their future, allowing them to gain valuable experience while being supported by dedicated professionals,” said dean of the School of Business and Office Automation Marie-France Bérubé in the release.

For the school district, it allows an opportunity for studying students to learn about administrative support work in the education system.

“We are delighted to collaborate in the training of CCNB office management students by offering them a dynamic professional environment where they can use the skills already acquired and develop new ones,” said school district general director Marc Pelletier in the release.

CCNB students chosen for the placements, as well as others in the class, will have the opportunity to complete workshops with Working New Brunswick to support their transition into the job market.

The program is being treated as a pilot project that could lead to collaborations with other employers in the future, the release states.
